Africa's Maternal & Child Nutrition Hub — leading the return to God-designed foods
I became a nutritionist because I became a mother. And when I became a mother, I saw something that changed the entire trajectory of my career: mothers across Nigeria — educated, devoted, loving mothers — were quietly abandoning the most nutritionally complete foods their children had ever been given access to.
Ugu leaves were being traded for imported cereals. Crayfish was considered old-fashioned. Ofada rice was passed over for processed alternatives. And as the foods changed, so did the children. I watched it happen over 12 years of practice, working with families across Nigeria.
I am a mother and a wife, based in Abuja. I am completing my Master of Public Health at Miva Open University, specialising in Health Education and Health Promotion. I am training as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I founded Somma's Yummies to bring premium African-plate baby food to Nigerian families. I built Mother First for pregnant and nursing mothers. And I founded Jaddah's Special Recipes to make God-designed nourishment accessible to every family regardless of income.
The Nourishing Mums Circle was never something I launched — it is something I have always been doing. Gathering mothers, teaching, equipping, encouraging the return to our God-given nutritional inheritance. This platform is giving that movement the home it deserves.
